Much like archaeologists, Giannis and I found ourselves in possessionof an extraordinary amphora—meticulously adorned and crafted withunparalleled skill. However, our challenge lay in the fact that, akinto many archaeological discoveries, this amphora lay shattered intonumerous fragments. Now, I comprehend the source of archaeologists’enthusiasm.The endeavor to reconstruct the unearthed object propels theminto the exhilaration of methodically piecing together all the parts,progressively guiding them to the joy of restoring the object, which,in turn, begins to narrate its own history. Essentially, this is whatthey sought from the initial strike of the shovel.Consequently, we unveiled a narrative dating back at least 5000years, honing in on the 5th century BCE. This period held significanceas the Greeks had touched upon the ideal, compelling us to somehowrevive the history of those days.
